Architects Downtime

What do architects do when they're waiting for buildings to be constructed? In his spare time, Los Angeles-based Frank Gehry makes jewelry for Tiffany & Co. What do others do?

At a recent fundraiser, the Architecture and Design Museum in Los Angeles gave us some idea what other southern California architects are up to.

• Predock_Frane Architects makes wigs from EL wire.
• Kanner Architects creates fashion statements with old business cards.
• When their workshop isn't making architectural models, Marmol Radziner Architecture becomes Marmol Radziner Jewelry, and architectural salvage becomes wearable art.
