Celebrating Anne Tyng 19202011

Tetrahedronical ceiling inspired by Anne Tyng.Anne Griswold Tyng was a modern woman whose life centered around geometry and architecture. Widely considered a great influence on the early designs of architect Louis I.Kahn, Anne Tyng was, in her own right, an architect, theorist, and teacher. From her 1947 Tyng Toy to her 1970s design of a Four-Poster House, Dr. Tyng's integration of geometric design with functionality was visionary.

Shortly after her 2011 retrospective Inhabiting Geometry, Anne Tyng died on December 27 at the age of 91. An afternoon memorial service is planned for May 5, 2012 in Philadelphia, where she worked and taught for many years. For more information, contact The University of Pennsylvania School of Design.
