Star Influences

Plenty of architects have birthdays in June, including Dutch-born Gerrit Thomas Rietveld and American Frank Lloyd Wright. Check out our updated calendar of June Birthdays to find this month's birth dates for other great architects.

But Rietveld and Wright have something else in common, which is somewhat captured in this photograph of the UNESCO World Heritage Rietveld Schröder House in the Netherlands.

Rietveld built the Schröder House in Utrecht according to De Stijl principles, and UNESCO claims that "the roots of De Stijl can be found in Frank Lloyd Wright's influence on architecture in the Netherlands in the early 1900s." That's real star influence.
