Celluloid Architecture

The most exciting happening of National Architecture Week in 2012 may be the Architecture and Design Film Festival in Chicago on April 12-16. Thirty-three films will showcase the works of several famous architects, including....

• Charles and Ray Eames are featured in Jason Cohn and Bill Jersey's 2011 documentary EAMES: The Architect and the Painter (read the NY Times review)
• Zaha Hadid, the first woman to win a Pritzker Prize, is in the spotlight in Lioness Among Lions - The Architect Zaha Hadid (2010) by Horst Brandenburg
• The personal stories behind the expressionist work of architect Erich Mendelsohn are told by director Duki Dror in Mendelsohn's Incessant Visions (2011)
• Robert A. M. Stern and his work are explored in Robert A.M Stern: 15 Central Park West and the History of the New York Apartment House (2011) by Tom Piper
• Norman Foster is the focus of the 2010 film Up to the Sky - Hearst Tower, New York by Sabine Pollmeier & Joachim Haupt
