
The self-described inventor of cast iron building, James Bogardus (1800-1874) developed this facade at 85 Leonard Street, NYC, for Kitchen, Montross & Wilcox Dry Goods Store in 1861. Building with cast iron was all the rage in the 19th century, thanks, in part, to the inventive Mr. Bogardus.
